Rynd Fox Scull

Brass, copper and fox teeth pendant based on the life and work of Irish physician Francis Rynd.

This was a commission project for the late physician Francis Rhynd- an Irish physician, the first man to invent the hollow needle. Although Rhynd was a doctor he often skipped appointments to go fox hunting and loved to dress lavishly.

I made the chain inspired by needles (his career being solid and held together) and his passion at his heart. The chain is completed with a hand fabricated T Bar closure shaped as a tooth.. I actually pulled these teeth myself from a dead fox. The skull is brass (wax cast) and the teeth settings are copper.
